Western Canada Lottery Corporation

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) was founded in 1974 by the government of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba whereas Nunavut, the Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories are only associate members. WCLC was established as a non-profit organization in order to manage and operate lottery and all related gaming services. WCLC is a member in the ILC (the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation) and is the regional marketing organization for Western Canada for the national lottery games. As such WCLC is entitled to market Canada's best selling lotteries: Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max (previously known as Lotto Super 7). In addition, WCLC is also closely working with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, Manitoba Lotteries Corporation, Lotteries Yukon, Saskatchewan Lotteries and Sport North Lottery Authority.

Lottery games

WCLC is hosting a variety of lottery games as well as scratching games. As part of the national marketing program, WCLC is hosting Lotto Max (previously Lotto Super 7) with a weekly draw on Friday and Lotto 6/49 with a bi-weekly draws on Wednesday and Saturday. Other games offered include Western 649, PayDay, Pick 3, Keno and Scratch N' Win. Millionaire Life is a national game with a top prize of million a year for 25 years or an equivalent single sum of Million.

Western 649, PayDay and Pick 3 are regional games and are marketed only in the Prairie Provinces and Territories. PayDay prize is a ,000 a week for the rest of the player's life, whereas Western 649 top prize can be up to million. Pick 3 is a daily draw for matching a 3-digit number. Keno is a game similar to lottery where ping pong-like balls are drawn. Each ball has a value ranging from 1 to 80.
