Virginia Games

Mega Millions: It is the most popular played game in Virginia. Virginia is one of the 12 states offering the game while other 33 states offer the Powerball game as members of the MUSL. The Mega Millions player select 5 white numbers from 1 to 56 and one Mega Ball (gold in color) from 1 to 46. It is possible to pick an identical number between the white numbers and the Mega Ball number. The Mega Millions offers better winning chances then the Powerball, 1:176 million against 1:195 million. The Mega Millions has a 12 million dollar minimum jackpot that rolls over to the next draw if not won. All other 8-prize categories are not pari-mutuel prizes but fixed sums, except for California, that offers all prize categories as pari-mutuel. Each game cost a single dollar and jackpots are paid in a single sum or 26 annual payments.

Win For Life: The game pays its winners 1,000$ a week for life. Players select 6 numbers from 1 to 42 and a free ball from the remaining 36 numbers. Matching all 6 numbers without the free ball grants its winner a 1,000$ per week for life, 13,000$ prize is paid every February, May, August and November. Second place prize is a single payment of 52,000$. Other prize categories are also fixed prizes granted to players matching 2 numbers plus the Free Ball and above. Draws are held each Wednesday and Saturday at 23:00.

Cash 5: It is a 5 out of 34 lotto game where players may wager 25 cents or 50 cents or even a dollar for each set of numbers, it is entirely up to the players’ choice. The maximum jackpot to be won when betting a single dollar is 100,000$. The only limitation is that each lottery slip will have a minimum bet of 1 dollar, meaning a player may decide to play 4 games each 25 cents, 2 games each 50 cents or at least one game of 1 dollar. The game draws are held 14 times per week (7 days, twice per day).

Pick 3: It has draws twice per day every day of the week. Players may win as much as 500 times their placed bet. Each play will cost 50 cents or 1$. A boost option is available in order to double the prize when matching the number exactly only. Players select 3 digits from 0 to 9 to create a 3-digit number.

Players must choose what is their preferred method of winning, an exact match, any order or a combination. The odds for each of the methods is different, where an exact match is the hardest odds, hence the better prize payoffs. An Exact match means the order of the digits drawn perfectly coincide between the draw and the player’s choice. Any order match means that the same 3 digits were drawn appear in the player’s choice but not necessarily in the same order. Another winning option for the players is to select a pair match, meaning the first 2 or last digits are the same as in the draw. A combination of methods is also available.
