The Untied States Virgin Island (USVI) was founded in 1957 and is the only lottery organization located outside the mainland and Puerto Rico. It is the smallest of all states offering the Powerball and scratch cards as part of MUSL (The Multi-State Lottery Association).

However USVI is also member in other Lottery organizations such as The Caribbean Lottery and NASPL (North America Association of State and Provincial Lotteries).

As part of the Caribbean Lottery the USVI is authorized to offer the Caribbean games, that are the only one worldwide that are not only multi state but also multi currency. The games offered are in 4 different currencies: US Dollar, Barbados Dollar, Caribbean Dollar and Netherlands Antilles Florin.

History

Leeward Islands Lottery Holding Company (LILHCo) was established in 1994 and is the sole operator of lotteries in Antigua/Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Maarten/Saba/St. Eustatius, Turks & Caicos, Barbados, Bermuda, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In May 2004 LILHCo was bought by GTECH for an estimate of million and since then is the operator of the USVI.

The most popular game offered by USVI is the Powerball and PowerPlay in the islands St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. Other games that are part of the American MUSL and the Caribbean Lottery are Pick 3 and Pick 4, played daily. The Caribbean KENO is drawn every 5 minutes and considered to be one of the most popular games in the Caribbean. Lucky6 is yet another lottery online game played twice per day, every day.
