Tennessee Lottery

TThe Tennessee Lottery started its first steps in 2000 in order to legalize lottery in the Tennessee State. However it took until December 29th, 2003 when the first lottery games were launched, the Instant scratch cards Tennessee Millionaire, Tennessee Treasures, Lucky 7’s and $100,000 Jackpot.

Currently the Tennessee Lottery is operated and supervised by the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TELC).

In April 19th, 2004 Tennessee joins the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) and launches the Powerball tickets sale. The Tennessee Lottery has as main goal to support the Tennessee education and is regularly transferring funds to various scholarship programs as well as others all designated to improve the Tennessee education system.

The Tennessee Lottery is currently managing its draws with a random Number Generator (RNG), the switch from ball drawings to computerized drawing was done on July 28th, 2007. However Powerball continues to be a ball drawing as it is part of MUSL operation and the drawings are held in Florida (before 2009 they were held in Iowa). The PowerPlay multiplier is no longer ball drawn but rather a RNG operation.
