South Carolina Education Lottery

In 2002 the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) was founded and it soon became a member in the MUSL (Multi-State Lottery Association). MUSL is known for the lottery games it offers, especially the Powerball. In addition to the Powerball SCEL offers a limited number of lottery games such as Palmetto Cash 5, MegaMatch 6 and Pick 3. In addition SCEL offers a variety of Scratch Cards games.

Games

Pick 3 is played twice per day all week and costs 1$. It is an easy game to play. The player chooses a 3-digit number and the method of betting. There are 4 betting methods and accordingly the player is paid if he matches the numbers correctly.

First betting option allows the player to win 500$ for a 1$ bet. For this the player must match all digits in order, also called Straight. The Box betting option requires the player to guess all digits correctly regardless of order. For Straight/box betting option the player may match the digits with or without the order. The last option, Combo ticket is won when the first 2 digits or last 2 digits are matched correctly.

Palmetto Cash 5 and Power-Up number

The Palmetto Cash 5 is a game played only in South Carolina and has a unique structure. The Palmetto Cash 5 draw is on Monday through Saturday. The maximum prize to be won is 100,000$ and the sum can be won in 4 different ways. In essence, the player picks 5 numbers ranging from 1 to 38 and for each set of 5 numbers the player pays 1$. Guessing all numbers will award the player 100,000$ where as guessing 2 numbers will award the player 1$.

The game extra option Power-Up costs an extra fee but for any winnings made the player may multiply his prize money from 2 up to 5 times. The Power-Up number is not selected by the player but rather drawn separately.

There are 16 Power-Up balls, 8 balls are designated with the number 2; 5 are designated with the number 3; 2 are designated with the number 4; and 1 is with the number 5. The Power-Up number drawn after the 5 main numbers is the multiplication number for any prize won.

SCEL Scratch Cards

A variety of Scratch Cards are offered by the SCEL and each game has different prizes. A ticket fee may start at 1$ and climb up to 30$. The games are formed to offer big sized jackpots and with various themes. Currently the most famous and trendy scratch card offered by the South Carolina Education Lottery is 20 Year Bonus.
