TattsLotto History
In 1972 the Victoria state government decided to grant lottery rights to Tattersalls, in order to support the health system. Since Australia did not authorize the use of poker gambling machine, it needed the revenues collected by the lottery system to support it.
Tattersalls based its first lottery game on the existing European model. Six numbers ranging from 1 to 40 are to be chosen whereas every week 6 numbers were drawn plus an additional number. However on July 6th, 1985 the game was revised and the 6 chosen numbers were between 1 and 45. Also an additional number was added. This version still runs today.
Numbers and Tickets
The lottery tickets contain 10 games and the minimum games to play are 2 and each game costs about 5 AU. Before the age of networked computers each ticket had 2 parts, the original ticket and a carbon copy slip. Each ticket had to be validated by the seller or Agent with special cash machine; eventually the agent sent all copy slips to Tattersalls headquarters ahead of each draw.
In the 80s, the networked computers allowed an easier way to deliver the players choices. Most importantly they permitted shorter closing times before the draw. No more slips being posted but rather scanned entries automatically delivered to a main computer.
More computer-generated options were added such as the "Quick Pick", "Auto-Pick", "Easi-Pick" or "Slikpik", all of which allowed different levels of computer chosen numbers. As Technology advanced so did the game options and the amount of games per draw that a player could play.
System entry is what commonly known as the different options in the game. Choosing to add those available options may require extra fees but also better the winning odds. A possible variation is to higher the amount of number crossed, this may cost more but when a prize is won then the chances for extra prizes appear. Presently, the jackpot, also called the First Division prize, has a weekly minimum sum of ,000,000. In addition there are 7 annual "SuperDraws" with special participating regulations. A player must buy at least 2 regular betting tickets, each costing ||CONTENT||.5 for a game and has to pay an agents fee.
