Maryland Lottery

The Maryland Lottery is an independent agency separate of the Maryland government. The lottery games that are included in this state are Mega Millions, Keno, Bonus Match 5, Multi-Match and a multitude of scratch off tickets. The headquarters of the Maryland State Lottery Agency can be found at 1800 Washington Boulevard, Suite 330, Baltimore, Maryland at the Montgomery Business Park.

The state lottery agency has a minimum age to play the lottery which is 18 years of age and not tickets can be sold to individuals under this age. The live lottery drawings are televised on various Baltimore television stations.

On September 9, 2008, the state of Maryland had its latest winner of the Mega Millions game. The jackpot winner was a 49 year old woman who purchased the winning ticket in Baltimore and claimed her prize anonymously on September 15th. The ticket was worth million dollars if the cash option was chosen or million as an annuity.

Rules and Regulations

Participants of the Maryland lottery need to understand that the tickets themselves are bearer instruments and winning ticket holders should sign the back of their ticket. The state lottery of Maryland is not responsible for theft, stolen, altered, lost, mutilated or destroyed tickets. Participants are encouraged to check the printed information of the ticket, as it is their sole responsibility, prior to leaving the retailer. Only corrections or cancellations are allowed at the time of purchase. All winnings tickets are subject to validation in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Maryland Lottery. Prizes must be claimed with 182 days from either the date of the drawing or the announced cancellation of an individual scratch—off game. All regulations and rules are subject to change.
