Lotto Super 7

In June 1994 Lotto Super 7 was launched for the first time by the ILC (the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation). The game was terminated on September 18th, 2009. The announcement from ILC was made on March 2009, informing of the game cancellation and the launching of a replacement game called Lotto Max.

It was a weekly game airing every Friday for good 15 years. The first prize had a guaranteed minimum of .5 million and it was won once all 7 numbers were guessed correctly. Similarly to other lottery games, when the prize was not won it was rolled over to the following week. The highest record jackpot for Lotto Super 7 was on May 17th, 2002 with .8 million divided among 4 winning tickets.

Lotto Super 7 was a Canadian national game played in all the 5 jurisdictions of Canada: British Colombia via British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), western Canada via Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), Ontario via Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG), Quebec via Loto-Quebec and Atlantic Canada via Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC). Each Friday night at 9 pm E.T. tickets sales ceased all over the Canadian jurisdictions. Each ticket awarded its player 3 games where he could choose various sets of 7 numbers. Each of the jurisdictions had a unique add-on offered to its players. Those are the add-ons offered:

  • Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC): Tag, allowed players to win an additional prize of maximum 0,000. Each ticket had a 6-digit number and when all digits were matched the extra prize was won.
  • Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG): Encore, allowed the players to win an additional prize of maximum million, when all the 7 digits of the extra number were matched.
  • Loto-Quebec: Extra, allowed the players to win an additional prize of maximum 0,000, when all the 7 digits of the extra number were matched.
  • Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC): Extra, allowed the players to win an additional prize of maximum 0,000, when all the 7 subsequent digits of the extra number were matched. In this case the number had to be matched backwards. The less digits were matching the lower the price was, starting from for 1 digit and for 2 digits and so on.

Lotto Super 7 had also tickets sold over the Internet

Some issues had to be clarified before a ticket was bought:

  • A player needed to be sure that the online dealer was approved by one of the Canadian provincial lottery commissions. It was essential that the player will buy only from an authorized dealer ONLY. Failing to do so a player might have fallen a victim into a lottery sham.
  • It would have been wise for the player to search for a website offering a variety of lottery games. It would have a shame to be able to play only one game with poor playing options. In any case, whatever site chosen, it needs to be operated or authorized by a by state registered lottery associations.
  • What ever you do aim to win and BIG. Choose the big jackpot offered. It is best done when playing the know lottery games like Lotto Super 7, Lotto 6/49, PayDay and so on. Since those are almost always played with a guaranteed minimum jackpot, it is likely to have good chances in winning BIG.
