Canada's newest national lottery game is called Lotto Max. It was launched on September 19th, 2009 and first draw was on September 25th. The game rules were recently changed in order to ensure that more people can win prizes and that jackpot prizes will not sky rock. The Canadian Lottery executives decided that it is better to keep the jackpot roof sum under a border. The thought was that beyond a certain amount, no winner could benefit from so much money. That is why the limit was set to million. The first prize is transferred to the next week if no one guessed right. This will continue until the jackpot reaches million. Once this limit was achieved, new special rules are applied to the game and a new game starts, the MaxMillions.

MaxMillions means that each extra million added to the jackpot cash results in another draw. Meaning a whole new set of numbers is drawn. Hence, if the jackpot accumulates million another 10 additional sets of numbers are drawn. Each of the new series is eligible for a million prize. The main jackpot stays million for the player guessing correctly the numbers from the first draw. The MaxMillions level is actually an improvement of the probability of winning any prize. The higher the sum is above the million, the higher the chances of a player to win a million prize. Weather this concept will catch on depends much on the following draws.
