Kentucky Lottery
The Kentucky Lottery is government-regulated and offers various types of games. The Lottery was created in April of 1989 after a 60% vote by Kentucky residents in November if 1988. On April 4, 1989, lottery sales began and the first day of sales topped Million dollars for the two games that were available. These two games, which were instant scratch games, were called Beginners Luck which sold for a 2$ and Two for the Money which cost 10$.
The state has a minimum age to purchase lottery tickets which is 18.
History
The gubernatorial race of 1987 focused heavily on the issue of a state lottery. Wallace G. Wilkinson, who eventually became governor, made introducing the lottery a main focal point of his campaign. By winning the election, his campaign would be the biggest gubernatorial victory in the state's history.
The incumbent Lieutenant Governor, Steve Beshear, was against the lottery during the 1987 race. In 2007, he ironically became Governor-Elect on a platform that supports legalized gambling in Kentucky.

Some additional points about this state are that its has the nation's most productive coalfield, the most expansive free ranging elk east of Montana, and is also known for thoroughbred horses, horse racing, bluegrass music, bourbon distilleries, tobacco, college basketball, and auto manufacturing.
