Mega Millions Jackpot Winner Mystery

Let me introduce you to the type of musical-comedy theatrical production called pantomime. Most likely to be found in the United Kingdom and usually performed at Christmas with plots based loosely on traditional children’s stories such as Cinderella, Aladdin and Snow White. British pantomime is aimed squarely at family audiences, nearly always has a hero and a villain and incorporates song, dance, slapstick, in-jokes, topical references and much audience participation.

Whenever the villain shows up on stage the audience is always encouraged to boo and hiss; even to shout out as loudly and noisily as possible, “He’s behind you!” to warn the poor innocent victims of their impending peril. One other must-have is the contradictory interlude, when one of the actors makes a statement which must be diametrically opposed by the audience. The banter goes like this – actor says “…….Oh yes it is – Los Angeles is definitely in Florida!” the audience responds by shouting, “Oh, no it isn’t!” The actor immediately replies “Oh, yes it is!” Followed by “Oh, no it isn’t!” from the audience and so on; each time the responses get louder and louder! Much mirth and merriment and a good time had by all!

Well you might ask, what’s this got to do with last week’s record breaking Mega Millions jackpot? Here’s the plot – last Friday a new world record jackpot worth $640 MILLION was won by 3 WINNERS from Maryland, Kansas and Illinois respectively!

It’s alleged that one of the WINNERS from Maryland; a worker at the local McDonald’s restaurant originally claimed that she was one of the three jackpot winners. Great joy and double choccie shakes all round; particularly as it’s alleged the claimant was part of a McDonald’s co-worker syndicate! Queue audience – loud cheering and clapping! Now bombshell statement from the “ticket holder” who went from “hero” to “villain” in one sentence by announcing that she was indeed part of the McDonald’s group; but she had purchased the winning ticket quite independently of her co-workers and the money was all hers and hers alone! Queue audience – boos and hisses!

When pressed on the point the “winner” retreated further saying that she thought some of the numbers were familiar but refused to show the winning ticket, claiming she had secreted it elsewhere and would produce it in the fullness of time! Queue loud audience – “Oh yes she’s won – oh no she hasn’t!” banter and nobody quite sure of what’s happening! What a plot – the woman’s Attorney doesn’t know whether his client has the winning ticket and Maryland Lottery officials say no one has yet claimed the record jackpot but they plan a news conference later today (Thursday).
